2020, forces a reset on all we take for granted. But, most especially the meaning of ‘right’. The #Nigerian government, on the 20th of October, reminded the world that for it ‘right is might!’ While we millennials and youths tried to teach it that “#Justice and #freedom are right!”

Presently, It may seem that we Nigerian #millennials and youths lost the #EndSars and #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Protests. Make no error we made a dent in history, and have created momentum for the other Sub-Saharan #African Millennials and Youths.

Mandela said, “it’s a long walk to freedom.” I wish he added that ‘this walk’ is littered with massacres, and life-threatening pitfalls, like the #LekkiMasscre.

Now we know that to effect change transcends peaceful protest. It includes sharing verifiable information.

We Nigerian Millennials and Youths deserve kudos for their ability to uplift spirits, while in the most inhuman conditions. Because, from Thursday, my feed was filled with memes of travel wishes to Canada, the US, and the UK.

This leads me to my next point. Guys, Yes! Most of us have families abroad, who post nice pictures of them living their best lives. What those pictures don’t tell you is that in whatever G20 country those pictures were taken, we Africans are not regarded as second-class citizens, but, “bottom of the food chain citizens.”

Because, above us on the global citizen’s food chain, there are the Asians, The south-Americans, the Arabians, North Africans, and Middle Easterners. And, rightly so! Because they have home countries better than we do.

I know you will say “Fisayo, I will prefer to be a ‘bottom of the food chain citizen’ in the UK, the US, or Canada, than to be in Nigeria or Africa.” While I understand your point, allow me to remind you of a line from Sound Sultan ‘Ajo o le dabi ile’ which means “there’s no travel or trip that is or can be like #home.”

While the coming days and months may be difficult. Remember “the harder the conflict the more glorious the triumph!” And we millennials and the future generations deserve a glorious #future!
